(1) Time for harvesting Artemisia Annua: Before the Artemisia Annua buds formation (around mid August), determine the optimal harvesting period through sampling.
(2) Harvest Artemisia Annua on consecutive sunny days. After 9:00 am, cut down the entire Artemisia Annua plant and let it air dry in place for half a day to one day. Then transport it to a drying area and expose it to the sun until it dries. The moisture content should not exceed 10%.
(3) Processing method. After drying the whole plant of Artemisia Annua, use a wooden stick to hammer down the old and yellow leaves at the bottom of the plant, remove and clean them, then hammer down the Artemisia Annua leaves with a wooden stick, sieve out impurities with a sieve, dry and put them in a burlap bag, and store them in a cool and ventilated place.
(4) The quality of Artemisia Annua leaves in commercial products should be dry, clean, green or green yellow, without branches or leaves, no dead leaves, no sediment, no impurities, no flower buds, and no mold or deterioration. The Artemisinin content in Artemisia Annua leaves should be above 15‰.
